Raag Bharav, also known as Raag Bhairav, is a prominent morning raga in the Indian classical music tradition. It is traditionally performed during the early hours of the day, particularly at sunrise. Raag Bharav belongs to the Bhairav thaat (musical scale) and is considered to be one of the oldest and most fundamental ragas in Hindustani classical music.

Raag Bhairav

The raag is characterized by a devotional and contemplative mood. It evokes a sense of deep spirituality, solemnity, and tranquility. The notes used in Raag Bharav are: Sa (the tonic), Re, Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha, and Ni. However, some variations of the raag also include Komal (flat) Ni and Komal Ga, adding distinct flavors to its melodic structure.

Raag Bharav follows a strict set of melodic patterns, known as aroha (ascending) and avaroha (descending), which contribute to its unique identity. The aroha of Raag Bharav is as follows: Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni Sa. The avaroha, on the other hand, may vary depending on the specific rendition style.

Being a morning raga, Raag Bharav is associated with a peaceful and introspective atmosphere. It is often performed in a slow tempo, allowing the artist to explore the nuances and intricate melodic phrases of the raag. It is commonly used in devotional compositions, bhajans, and semi-classical genres like thumri and dadra.

As with other ragas in Indian classical music, Raag Bharav has its own unique mood and aesthetic, and it can evoke different emotions and sentiments depending on how it is presented by the performer. The subtle variations in note rendering, ornamentation, and improvisation contribute to the artist's expression and interpretation of the raag.

Raag Bharav holds a significant place in the repertoire of Hindustani classical music, and its melodic structure has been explored by numerous maestros and musicians over the centuries. Its timeless appeal continues to captivate both performers and listeners alike.

Movies and Direction

Who is a Director?

The Director is a person who controls and direct an Organization or a Project.  Direction is an art of excellence, administration, control over the affairs, overall management, implementing and Organizing a Project.

Who is a Movie Director?

Movie Director is the person who controls and direct all the affairs of a movie.  He has the ultimate control over all other activities and he is responsible for the failure and success of the movies.  He wins when a movie becomes successful in the box office and makes huge collections.  He fails when a movie becomes unsuccessful and does not make the required collections in the form of earnings. Directors of the movies always strikes when they pitch to success but at the same time when the movies fails then they will be criticized for their work.

What are the Positive and Negative of Movies ?

A movie fails when the overall coordination of storytelling in the background fails.  Thus the main reason for failure is not the story itself but the sequence of screen play and the acting prowess of the actors, time and release modalities and any other essential areas like editing, photography etc. may also result in such failures.  When a Director tries to say some peculiar things through his movie but he fails to explain the contents with the required expressions, the movie becomes a failure.  This may be due to the non-performance by an actor or any other related activities like editing and photography. Coordination of each and every activity in a movie should be done with utmost care to avoid failure.  As is said by too many scholars that "Sucess is the result of too many failures".  Likewise "Success has too many fathers and the failure has none".

JAYAN - Memory of a strong Personality   (1939 TO 1980)

Once upon a time there was a name pronounced by the film lovers and critics all over Kerala and film industry of Kerala a well-known name, he is the all time favourite actor of Malayalam movie arena Mr. Jayan.

In the industry he was famously known by the name Mr. Jayan but the real name was Mr. Krishnan Nair.

Before going into details we would like to go through his career in the early 20s.  He was navy officer.  As per heard stories, he was attending a programme in Chennai (then Madras) when he met with an important personality in the film industry which opened doors to the actor to enter into Malayalam Film Industry as an actor.

by the nick name "Mollywood". as well about one Jayan was once one of the strongest leading actors in Malayalam cinema. It is an indisputable fact that the acting of that person caused a lot of jealousy among other contemporary actors.

However, Krishnan Nair overcame all obstacles with his strong thinking and clear ideas or there was no place for such unwanted thoughts in his life. The acting prowess of the legendary hero Jayan had amazed everyone. You have to learn from Jayan what qualities you need when it comes to being a hero. The so-called golden age of Kerala cinema was from 1970 to 1980. In all respects, this period is invaluable. He born on July 25, 1939 at Ola, Kollam District and left us on November 16, 1980.

The contributions he gave during his film career was very important and will be remembered for ever.

After leaving the navy he joined malayalam cinema as an actor.  His contributions to malayalam movies was very invaluable.  The style he brought with him changed the scenario of malayalam film industry.  The almighty gave a short life span to Krishnan Nair so he went back at the age of 41 years.

Jayan's  action scenes were very impressive during the golden period of malayalam cinema.  He never acted stunts with the help of another person, he has the natural strength and stamina to act any kind of scenes. His mesmerizing acting power was very appreciative and there was no replacement for him.

1980 film 'Kolilakkam' was the last movie he acted, which was a thriller movie, there were many stunt scenes in the movie.

How the tragedy occurred,  relevant sources of information says that while Kolilakkam film shooting final or climax scenes were going on at Sholavaram Air Strip in Chennai, the chopper used for the shooting  lost its balance and crashed.

The actor got severely injured, but before the chopper was to get fire, he has been rushed to the nearby Hospital, but could not save his life.

The untimely death of a superstar marked another Kolilakkam at his home town as well as entire Kerala film industry and the fans became standstill for a moment after hearing the news of his sad and untimely demise.

The land of Kerala as a whole was thinking about the great loss, film lovers and fans were not ready to accept the news of his departing and were unable to bear with this great loss.  They were upset and tried to control their emotions but failed to control themselves. Till his soulless body brought to his native place all were of the view that nothing was happened to the actor and the news heard is not dependable.

His success rate in the films were remarkable and the achievements he made as well as his contributions to the film industry is invlauable and nobody expected such a big crisis in the industry all of a sudden.

He had in his a handful of good films. Shooting were in progress at many locations.  He had to reach to many different locations and was busy with various films.

When somebody plans a film with Jayan as a main actor, there will be some stunt scenes for sure.  Due to his willpower and possess ing a good number of qualities like daring, meticulous footstep, muscle power, dedication and willingness. His glory and fame due to success of his films were on top.

But all of a sudden, the nature snached away everything. Time pressed a unique actor into his fist very quickly.

This unfortunate event snached away  an unforgettable and  multitalented personality at an early age, which reflected as a great loss to malayalam movie world and for the entire audience  of malayalam movies.

After his death in November 1980, many films released of him as hero, which were filmed before his death, but the loss suffered by the film industry and the audience of kerala is not at all negligible.

Some of the  famous Jayan Movies were Sarapanjaram, Saapamoksham Manushya Mrigam, Karimbana, Angadi, Ariyappedaatha Rahasyam, Kolilakkam, he acted around 160 movies including one Tamil movie during the short life span of 41 years and successfully added his name in the golden era and returned. A big salute to that unique artist who faded into the veil of time.

 MUSIC IN KERALA FILMS

What is the theory of music is unknown to many even though keeping a watch on the activities being done on the back ground is still to be revealed.  Nobody knows that what is the exact background pictures going on in movies, how they are directed and filmed and how much is the likely effort, material cost, remuneration to artists and other allied costs, manpower required for completion of a movie. The cost may vary from movie to movie but the efforts required for shooting two and half hour movie is unimaginative.  The struggle felt in making a movie from beginning of its production to release and after success later to release is beyond expression and may lead to stammering. It is heard that in beginning of the 20 century there are a very few movies but after 1950 the number of movies increased a little bit but the period from 1960 to 1980 was a golden era of music and cinema in Kerala.  There are many musicians in Kerala film Industry. Famous among them are M.S. Viswanathan, G. Devarajan, Naushad, Ravindran, John Paul, are the famous music directors in Kerala film domain.   The famous song writers are Great Vayalar Ramaverma, Salil Chaudhary, Kaithapram Damodaran Namboodiri, Vayalar Sarathchandra Verma

The legends like AM Raja, Baburaj, Kamukara Purushothaman, Brahmanandan, KJ Yesudas, P. Jayachandran,  MG Sreekumar, G Venugopal, Biju Narayanan, Markkose, Madhu Balakrishnan, Vidhu Pratap are the some of the famous male singers.   On the other hand female singers are not too many and they are M.S.Subbalakshi Ammal, S. Janaki, Maadhuri, P Susheela, K.S.Chithra, P. Sujatha.  There are many new singers in the Kerala film industry.  But naming all of them will take too much time this is written only for the efforts put in by them all towards film industry and the writer would like to share his views how the movies are screened and reached to people and its background how the movies are filmed and with such great efforts all the movies are produced but unfortunately some movies could not make it to the successful list of movies due to some or other reasons, may be such movies were good but they were not fortunate enough to enjoy the winning moments.

While writing about movies and their background I forgot about the writers and script writers of these movies which are really interesting, how you will successfully write a script and how these scripts are filmed by the respective Directors in coordination with Production Team.  Every thing will be on the right path when it gives immense pleasure to the audience who watch theses movies but there may be misfortunes, which will drive a negative thought in the mind of all those who involved in the movie that why that film was flop, nobody can predict any movie and its positive and negative results because all in our hands is to dedicate ourselves to the work allotted to us and do it carefully, then all the points will come together and all the dedicated efforts will prove to make positive results.

Malayalam Cinema :

Malayalam Movies

Malayalam is the main language spoken in Kerala and the movies released in the Kerala are known as Malayalam Movies.  There are also people staying Kerala and native belongs to Tamil Nadu.  Earlier Kerala was under Madras State and therefore the movies were filmed at Madras and in various studios situated in and around Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.  But the first movie Vigathakumaran was produced and directed by Shri JC Daniel Sir was the first movie in Kerala.

About Kerala :

Kerala span across more than 360 miles in length have 14 Districts from Kasaragod which is the Northern corridor to Southernmost corridor Trivandrum (currently known as Thiruvananthapuram) which is the Capital city of Kerala.  Kerala's land is ideal for cultivation of various crops.  Kerala's main food crop is rice and other crops like Coconut, Areca nut, Spices like Cardamom, Pepper, Ginger are also primary cultivating. " Vigathakumaran" movie was not talking but Harishchandra started talking.

What is the peculiarity of Malayalam Movies:

Malayalam movies are based on some real incidents and current scenario of the State of Kerala.  The movies are fully successful in picturizing the real world events.  The time of one movie screening span from two to two and half hours.  In all the movies if there is no hero one villain will be there to create anxiety.  There are movies based on rain as far as concerned rain is not at all a subject for a movie even though the creative artists and story tellers make it happened in the name of movie "Mazha" (Rain).  There are very typical names for all the movies released now a days as there is an unknown fact of scarcity of good names, the names are done by joining any persons name, the recent movie "Ayyappanum Kozhiyum" is an example of naming of movies based on the name of person.  Even though there are plenty of good names still to choose but the name of movie must explore the character's name and precisely saying the roles played by each of the actors and actresses in a movie not only make them lucrative and handsome packets to enrich and support their priorities in life.

Important Actors and Actress in Malayalam Movies:

Sathyan Master (1951-1971) :

Manuvel Sathayneshan was born on 9th November, 1912.  Sathyan Master while serving as Police Inspector dived into the film Industry by acting in the movie Thyaga Seema(1951) as the movie could not release the next movie of Sathyan Master acted was Aathma Sakhi(1952), which was a big hit and successful but the name and fame brought him through another film Neelakkuyil(1954). His last film was "Karakanaa Kadal" which broght him laurels.

Prem Nazir

Abdul Khader the real name of Prem Nazir who launched a revolution in the history of Malayalam movies by almost acting in 600 movies during his life span is big history need exclamation marks.  Prem Nazir was know as Ever Green Actor because of his acting skills.  His roles in the movies in which he acted were vastly the role of a lover or a business tycoon or in other films as old caricatures. He contributed a lot to Malayalam Cinema his contributions will alway remember.  I like to bend upon his achievements as an actor as any body acting in 600 movies in his life time is a remarkable achievement.  Prem Nazir was known for his good etiquette.  He was really soft spoken and was never felt like an arrogant person.  With his maturity in behavior brought him name and fame.

Mammootty and Mohanlal :

The rocking role played by Mammootty in "Vadakkan Veera gaadha" brought much name and fame to the Mega Star.  This is an excellent movie based on well known family "Thacholi" in Kerala was a big start for Mammootty and broken all collection records. He was playing the role of "Chandu" in the film even though "Chandu" was criticized as a ridiculous, radical and irrational in the history of the so called family but the film displayed the character on another phase by granting the character the main role in the film.  Every aspect of films breaks some rules when compared to real world stories but to the surprise the movie was a big hit and was successful in netting bulk collection.  The main role in the film known as "Chandu" was an epic character and was an excellent role for him to bring him in front of other competing actors at that point of time.  It is a well known movie released in the year 1989 April, 14.  Some other important and supporting actors were played important roles like Madhavi, Balan K Nair as father of Madhavi's (Unniyarcha) Character named as "Valiya Kannappan Chekavar", Suresh Gopi as Aaromal Chekavar.  Captain Raju played another important role in the film named as Aringodar the so called Guru (Teacher) of Martial Arts (Kalaripayattu). This was an excellent film released in the year 1989, the picturization, photography, videography and editing were highly movable and attractive, which blessed the movie to conquer the Malayalam Movie world.

Mohanlal is also known as Super Star of Kerala Cinema kingdom has achieved a lot of laurels in his life.  He has been an inspiration to all the Keralites because of his acting.  He act with ease and normal, some person want to create his face according to the situations but the natural phenomena is different.  The ethics of acting is to be understood from this actor because when he came up with the villain role and later on converged into a  hero image is very much difficult to achieve.  There are many actors who came as hero and became villain later on due to bad luck or defame.  But Mohanlal with his smiling face conquered the minds of Kerala's common man.  He is now Amma an Organization of Actors and actress's Chairman.  His behavior is very popular for lovliness and humbleness and he still live as a simple human being without affecting the glory or glamour of the film industry.  His Son Pranav Mohanlal is also an actor and acted in some good films.

What is the trend of Malayalam Movies Today

Today the path of Malayalam Movie has been a thrilling success story with lot of excellent and contemporary stories engulfed in to the film domain and some excellent actors like Prithwiraj, Dulqar Salman and comedian Suraj Venjaramoodu and all other actors contributes their best for the Industry.  There are other impressive personalities like Vineet Srinivasan who has marked a remarkable place in the Malayalam Movie domain and has been successful in all the areas of picturizing great movies.  There are many skills required in film industry starting from make up to acting for a movie to release, the significance of all the persons working in the film industry has their own identity and importance, each person is vital and correlated in the movie domain, so all are equally respected in the Malayalam Film Industry, which is a good hope and practice, this type of perfection and simplicity brings Malayalam Cinema to top of other Cinema Industries.  The Bioscope will still make motions in Malayalam Film Industry as a whole.
